The “More Correct Information, Less Discrimination” (MILD) online training course has been available since 25 March 2026. Designed for journalists, journalism students, communicators in the activism field, and content creators, this online course aims to improve the quality of information by equipping journalism students and civil society organisations with tools to report more accurately on racialised communities.
The session introduced students to the themes of the “More Correct Information, Less Discrimination” (MILD) course, designed to help journalists and journalism students improve reporting while combating stereotypes and disinformation about migrants and racialized communities.
The interactive training was held in two sessions On Monday 23 and Thursday, 26 March 2026 at MCAST in Mosta for a group of first and second-year journalism students, some of whom already have experience working in newsrooms.

During the training, students explored the five interactive modules of the program, which cover:
Addressing racist and discriminatory language in media
Narratives on migration
The risk of stigmatization and racialization through images and videos
Media literacy
Building new narratives and fostering cooperation
The session was highly interactive, combining a variety of activities to engage students and encourage discussion. Participants completed quizzes, watched videos, and responded to questions. This mix of activities allowed students not only to absorb theoretical concepts but also to reflect on practical applications in journalism. Throughout the session, students actively commented, shared perspectives, and asked questions, demonstrating strong interest and curiosity.
This training emphasized the importance of combining theoretical knowledge with practical exercises to strengthen journalistic skills. Initiatives like this, led by the African Media Association Malta, give students an invaluable opportunity to engage with contemporary challenges in media and equip them to contribute positively to the quality and fairness of information in society.
