No Poverty, Zero hunger or Quality Education are not only slogans!
Since the adoption of the agenda 2030 by the United Nations that seeks to end all forms of social discomfort, several entities have taken up the challenge to embrace the 17 goals that sustain such agenda.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a series of 17 goals fixed by the United Nations and adopted by 193 countries in 2015. Their overall objective is to create a better life for all by 2030. It is not a secret that Inequalities across the world are huge. People die because of a lack of basic goods such as food, a roof, clothing.
It is estimated that 648 million people in the world live below the poverty line, up to 828 million people worldwide suffer from hunger, 2 billion people do not have access to safe water. These are only a few figures of a much wider disaster.
Available solutions do exist, but they are not enough. More is always welcomed, any action is always welcome and any initiatives are always welcome.
The project “A Part of EU 2030” is one of such initiatives. It is a project that sees 50 youth from five EU countries organised in ad hoc Local youth Councils where different roles are assigned to each of them.
A series of online and offline activities and workshops
Through the councils, members will organise a series of online and offline activities and workshops to diffuse and promote civic participation to amplify the objectives of the 17 SDGS.
Young people based in Malta, Spain, Greece and Serbia will come together to create workshops covering five areas of participation: social and political participation; sport and culture; voluntarism, family, training and employment.
Thus, 75 workshops will be organised and 51 of these workshops will cover the 17 chapters of the “A Part of EU Handbook “ that will be delivered at the end of the project ending in September 2023.
Six months targeted messages on social networks with the #IamThe17SDGs hashtag
Another important moment of the activities of the local youth council members will be the media campaign that will start on the 9th January 2023.
The youth activists of the 2030 Agenda will be in charge of publishing for six months targeted messages on social networks, especially on facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok. The messages will be aimed at a wide audience, and will call for the participation of all to embrace this important agenda. The name of the campaign will be I AM THE 17 SDGs.
The activities of this EU-funded project can be followed on the project's website and various social networks.
