Flâneur project is an artistic project part of the 2025 edition of Refugee Week Malta. The initiative invites locals from Ħamrun, and visitors alike to slow down and rediscover the neighborhood, not as a place to pass through, but as a living, breathing map of human experience.

Refugee Week Malta 2025 is returning for its fourth year, taking place from the 14th to the 22nd June 2025 across multiple Maltese localities, including Valletta, Ħamrun, Floriana and other places across the island.
Refugee Week Malta 2025 is a growing global movement whose purpose is to amplify voices and celebrate the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees through the arts, community and cultural activity. Its 2025 theme, “Community as a Superpower”, highlights the power of human connection to combat isolation and encourage an inclusive society.
The Flâneur project holds space for the voices and journeys of displaced people, not through spectacle, but through shared humanity.

Unfolding across shop windows, building walls, and local spaces, Flâneur weaves together poetry written in English, Maltese, and what the artists call “the language of the space.”
These posters, at once public art and poetic fragments, form a lyrical cartography of Ħamrun. They tell stories of migration, memory, resilience, and quiet moments of everyday beauty. The poems speak softly but powerfully, reminding us that migration is not only movement, but transformation of people, places, and perception.
This isn't just an exhibition; it's an invitation to walk, notice, feel, and engage with a space layered in history, culture, and emotion.
During this event, African Media Association Malta had the opportunity to talk with Jacob and Jerry who both shared their journeys and experiences.
